The college, or Jesus College in the University of Oxford of Queen Elizabeth's Foundation to give it it's full name, was founded by Elizabeth I on 27 June 1571 for the education of clergy, although a broad range of secular subjects are now studied by students. Here in the first quad, buildings date back to the 16th and early 17th centuries
