English: A vertical ruler and an inclined straw in a plastic box full of water seen under shallow angle. Due to refraction, the straw appears kinked and the scale compressed. The angle of incidence and the angle of refraction can be estimated by the aspect ratio of the slice of cork and the coins, respectively.
Deutsch: Ein Lineal (vertikal) und ein Trinkhalm (schräg) in einer randvoll mit Wasser gefüllten Dose, aufgenommen unter flachem Winkel. Durch Lichtbrechung erscheint der Halm geknickt und die Skala komprimiert. Einfalls- und Brechungswinkel können aus der elliptischen Ansicht der Korkscheibe bzw. der Münzen geschätzt werden. Entsprechend der Gegenstandsweite von etwa 40 cm nehmen die Winkel von unten nach oben zu und damit auch die Hebung, wodurch der Halm leicht gebogen erscheint.
