| Description |
English: Ohio county map shows Ohio glassmaking centers in 1888. The old glassmaking center (Bellaire and surrounding area) is circled in blue. It was ideal for glassmaking because of its coal and the Ohio River. The new glassmaking center (Findlay is marked with a dot) is circled in red. A natural gas discovery in 1887, and railroads, enabled the new center to attract glass companies. |
