Summary

Description

New connections to the grid" berücksichtigt.

English: Power capacity of all newly installed nuclear plants (continuous border) and of all destroyed or permanently shut-down nuclear plants (dotted border) - separated by year (1954-2019) and countries. The legend gives the ISO 3166-1 codes of the countries. The "Net" line shows (Power of newly installed plants) - (power of destroyed or permanently shut-down plants).

Blue border: Europe excluding former Soviet Union; red border: former Soviet Union; green border: North America; purple border: South America; yellow border: Africa; black border: Asia excluding former Soviet Union. Source of the data is the PRIS data base der IAEA, whereas always the current country borders are used. Only the categories "Permanent Shutdowns" and "New connections to the grid" have been taken into account. Power increasements during operation are not included in the graph.

Additionally, important nuclear accidents are given which had a notable influence on the further civil usage of nuclear energy.
