Summary

Description
English: Schematic diagram of a typical stack of nuclear emulsion sheets, as used in cosmic ray experiments from about 1950. The sheets are held under firm high pressure and in accurate relative position, at constant temperature and humidity, between adjustable solid brass plates at top and bottom. This ensures that the micron level precision of the track measurement is not compromised, in a configuration that effectively creates a solid block of emulsion.
