Summary

Poem about a comet that appeared above Saint-Étienne, France in 1682 that became the basis for a Christmas carol. English translation: "Noël III" : "They say it has appeared - I do not know what star - Since yesterday evening, Above this city; What is going to become of us! There is something in the wind, Hidden below. Could it be, A bad omen? It is fooling us, If we are wise. Pierrot and François, In the neighborhood, Are very surprised. Everyone has vowed, That they felt, The star with the long tail, Has run its course. If this is true, It will be good to see, What will come to pass."
