Urban villa, designed by J.W. Schaap in 1866. Former residence of the director of the School for Maritime Officers. From 1922 to 2009 used as a school building by several primary and secundary schools. Left: statue of Rembrandt, who was born in Leiden. Nederlands: Noordeinde 1, Leiden. Stadsvilla, ontworpen door J.W. Schaap in 1866. Vroegere dienstwoning van de directeur van de Zeevaartschool. Later in gebruik als schoolgebouw voor de Eerste Leidse Schoolvereniging (ELS) (1922-1978), het Boerhaave College (1978-2000) en het Stedelijk Gymnasium (2001-2009). Links in de schaduw: standbeeld van Rembrandt van Rijn, die in Leiden werd geboren. |
