Notes

Par son sujet, sa provenance et ses dimensions, notre tableau est à mettre en relation avec quatre tableaux conservés au musée du château de Versailles : le portrait de Louis de France, Dauphin et celui de Marie Joseph de Saxe, Dauphine, signés de Anne-Baptiste Nivelon et datés de 1764. Ils proviennent du don du comte de Beaumont fait à Louis XVIII en 1817.

Les portraits de Madame Sophie et de Madame Louise, provenant de la même donation, et inventoriés comme "d'après François-Hubert Drouais" sont très probablement de Anne-Baptiste Nivelon.
