Description
English: Main gate to the grand mosque in Kiota, in Niger (Kiota commune, Boboye Department, Dosso Region). Kiota is one of the most important centers of Sufism and devotion in West Africa. Influential religious leaders of the Tijaniyyah (or Tijani) order have their seat here. The annual Mouloud celebrations in honor of the Prophet Mohammed are known far beyond the borders of the community.
Français : Porte principale de la grande mosquée de Kiota, au Niger (commune de Kiota, département de Boboye, région de Dosso). Kiota est l'un des centres les plus importants du soufisme et de la dévotion en Afrique de l'Ouest. Des chefs religieux influents de la confrérie Tijaniyya ont leur siège ici. Les célébrations annuelles du Mouloud en l'honneur du prophète Mahomet sont connues bien au-delà des frontières de la communauté.
