Summary

Description
English: Niel Hammann, former editor-in-chief of South African magazines Huisgenoot and You, with his wife Marlene Hammann. Niel Hammann is being credited for having revolutionised Afrikaans magazine publishing in South Africa in the 1980s and 1990s, making Huisgenoot the undisputed leader in the field (for any language in South Africa). He took the reigns when shutting down the decades old magazine was seriously considered by its publishers in the late 1970s because of much declining readership figures (largely due to the introduction of public television in the country).
