Summary

Description
English: Section of the Boonton Formation exposed in a road cut in Pequannock Township. The image shows three distinct layers within this section of the formation. The bottom layer appears to be composed of flaggy purple siltstone and mudstone, while the middle layer is composed of conglomerate (mainly large pebbles surrounded by purple sandstone/siltstone). The top layer appears to be either a carbonate bearing siltstone or some sort of irregular carbonate concretion with a light gray coloration.
