DescriptionNew Graves Over Pioneer Memorial Park in Botany Cemetery.jpg
English: New development impinging on the monuments of early settlers of Australia. The gravestones on the left were moved from Devonshire Street Cemetery (Sand Hills) to make way for Central Railway Station in Sydney in 1901. Relocated with the burials to purpose-build Bunnerong Cemetery but then moved again, without the burials, into concrete strips to make a 'pioneer park' in 1976 under the Botany Cemetery Trust: with much of the land reclaimed for new burials. Around 2007, the Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park which absorbed the Botany Cemetery Trust started redeveloping the limited park reserve, establishing new concrete strips which now abut the remaining gravestones and are significantly impacting their condition.
