English: A re-touched flint flake of probable Neolithic date.
The tool has been made from a roughly drop-shaped flake. The dorsal surface has a central vertical arrise which splits into a V-shape towards the proximal end. Most of the re-touching has taken place on one of the vertical edges and is limited in extent; the other vertical edge may have been deliberately serrated, or this may be the result of use. On the ventral surface is evidence of rippling from the strike, but the bulb-of-percussion has been removed. The flint is brownish-grey to mid-grey in colour.
The implement measures 49.9mm long, 27.9mm wide and 9.9mm thick. The weight is 11.22g.
The Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) is a voluntary programme run by the United Kingdom government to record the increasing numbers of small finds of archaeological interest found by members of the public. The scheme started in 1997 and now covers most of England and Wales. Finds are published at https://finds.org.uk
