English: National Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Dona Juana Rodriquez Avenue, formerly Broadway Ave., New Manila, Quezon City)[1]Coordinates: 14°36'51"N 121°1'49"E is under the administration of the Discalced Carmelite Fathers. Established by Anglo-Irish Carmelites, the cornerstone of the Shrine was laid on Dec. 30, 1954, and was inaugurated on the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel on July 16, 1964. Carmel Shrine in Cubao declared pilgrimage site by Catholic Church November 20th, 2012 he Diocese of Cubao recently declared Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine in New Manila, Quezon City, as a pilgrimage church for the Year of the Faith, which started last month and will end in November 2013. It was Cubao Bishop Honesto Ongtioco who designated the famous church as a pilgrimage site, announced the CBCPNews, the official news service of the Philippine Church hierarchy. FEAST DAY: July 16 TITULAR: Our Lady of Mount Carmel[5] The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, erected by the Discalced Carmelites of the Anglo-Irish Province in 1954, was formally consecrated by Rufino Cardinal Santos on July 16, 1964. On February 17, 1975, Juan B. Velasco presided over its canonical Parish erection on April 7, 2000, while Cardinal Jaime Sin designated it as a Jubilee Pilgrimage Church, July 16, 2000 solemn dedication. It belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cubao (administered by the Order of Discalced Carmelites)[6]Vicariate of the Holy Family |
