Image title	La pierre extraite de carrières d'Euville (Meuse), un calcaire blanchâtre d'une excellente qualité, a fait la renommée de cette commune à travers le monde. L'âge d'or des carrières d'Euville se situe entre 1880 et 1910. Le nom de Civet apparaît pour la première fois à Euville en 1861. À Euville comme à Lérouville, la concurrence entre maîtres carriers locaux et négociants parisiens ou bourguignons est vive. Des accords pour la création de sociétés permettent dans un premier temps de limiter les tensions. Ainsi Civet s¿associe à Crouet, Gauthier, Level et Pommier pour l¿exploitation de carrières tant à Euville qu¿à Lérouville. Mais dès 1880, la raison commerciale de cette société est réduite à Civet, Pommier&Cie. Dirigée sur place par un ingénieur des Mines, Pierre Bajolot, la compagnie devient le premier employeur du Pays de Commercy avec plus de 1 500 personnes vers 1890.
