Summary

Description
English: Relatively pure sodium bismuthate contained in a glass vial (at the right) and a test tube with a deep-purple solution formed after adding some NaBiO3 to an acidified sample (at the left) are shown. This deep colour is noticeable in minute quantities and is characteristic of permanganate, which indicates the presence of manganese ions in the tested sample. The photo was taken at the Tbilisi State University.
