Description NMUSN-P-D-2015-1-12: Lieutenant Commander William D. Leahy, USN, and Major C.S. Hill, USMC, onboard USS California (Armored Cruiser #6), August 1912. Note, renamed San Diego, California was sunk by a German mine while off Long Island, New York, on July 19, 1918. Collection of Fleet Admiral William D. Leahy, Jr. (2015/12/14).
