Description
English: The coalfield of north east England and its shipping ports, mid-19th century. Public domain sources of map: (1) Wood, Nicholas, (1858). "On the improvements and progress in the working and ventilation of coal mines in the Newcastle-on-Tyne district within the last fifty years". Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers: 177–236. (2) Hobson, William Colling (1840), Map of the County Palatine of Durham (National Library of Scotland) for the original mouth of the river Tees and the positions of the Stockton and Darlington Ry and Clarence Ry.
