"Boîte-en-valise" (or "Museum in a Box") by Marcel Duchamp. At the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio.
Between 1935 and 1940, Duchamp he created 20 of these boxes, which contained 69 reproductions of his work. Each "museum" came with a brown leather carrying case.
Each box contains a standing, framed version of "Nude Descending a Staircase" and a few other works, a swing-out "gallery" of small prints, and several loose prints mounted on paper. Each box included one original. In this particular box, it is a hand-colored print depicting the upper half of "Virgin (No. 2)" (1938).
Six editions of the box appeared in the 1950s and 1960s. These eliminated the carrying case, used different colored fabric, and altered the number of items inside.
