The term Millipede originated from the Latin mille, "thousand", and pes, "foot"). They are scientifically known as the class Diplopoda. They are a group of arthropods, characterised by jointed legs and they are known widely as "thousand feet".
English: This image represents a Multicoloured Millipede seen in Enugu State Nigeria and was captured during rainy season. The Millipede is curled up in a ball because it thinks it wants to be attacked. Millipedes are not violent, so it curls up when attacked.
