Description
English: The sitter, Ellen Julia Teed (1822 - 1884), married Robert Hollond, MP for Hastings, in 1840. She was an authoress and philanthropist, and held a salon in Paris which attracted the leading Liberals of the day. She presented Boucher's 'Pan and Syrinx' to the National Gallery in 1880.; Robert Hollond (1808-1877) funded and then took part in establishing a distance ballooning record with Thomas Monck Mason and Charles Green. He later served as a Whig politician representing the constituency of Hastings.
