Description
Dargestellt ist vermutlich die Elblandschaft bei Dresden. Die sonst in Bildpaaren konzipierte Tageszeiten- und Lebensalterthematik ist hier durch eine doppelseitige Bemalung eines Bildes vereinigt. Auf der Seite der Morgenstimmung gleiten drei Figuren in einem Kahn der nebeligen Morgensonne entgegen. Die Nachtszene zeigt ebenfalls die Figurengruppe im Kahn, allerdings ist nun als mögliches Ziel der Reise im Hintergrund eine Stadt sichtbar. Mit zahlreichen Türmen liegt sie, vom Licht des Vollmondes beschienen, zwischen beidseitig gleichmäßig ansteigenden Gebirgszügen.[1]
