Fundado no século XII, o Mosteiro de Salzedas apresenta raros vestígios da edificação primitiva. O conjunto que chegou aos nossos dias resulta das profundas campanhas de obras dos séculos XVI, XVII e XVIII, quando se construíram os dois claustros subsistentes, se remodelou o espaço interior da igreja e se refez completamente a fachada.
