Summary

Description
English: This image shows greenschist of the Moppin Complex along Hopewell Ridge, New Mexico, USA. The Stratherian Moppin Complex consists mostly of greenschist and amphibolite with some feldspathic schist and is interpreted as a metamorphosed island arc volcanic edifice. The island arc was accreted onto North America 1.7 billion years ago during the Yavapai Orogeny, forming the Yavapai crustal province, which stretches from Wyoming to central New Mexico and from Arizona at least to the Midwest.
