Summary

Description Stone Carvings on Moorlands House, Albion Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. As of November 2016 the building was occupied by Starbucks. The photograph was taken from the scaffolding, which was erected for stone-cleaning. The carving is credited to Robert Mawer. This could be Zeus, king of the gods, but he could also be the king on a playing card. He appears to be speaking. This is also a portrait of the architect of the building, William Bruce Gingell, by Robert or Catherine Mawer. Their portraits of architects are often wearing a crown.
