English: Monument located at the Battle at Chignecto. "The Acadian village of Beaubassin on this site was founded by settlers from Port Royal around 1672. Upon the arrival of Major Charles Lawrence with British Soldiers in April 1750, the church authorities had the village destroyed in order to force the Acadians to move to the French side of the Missiguash River. Thus, Beaubassin was burned by Indians under the direction of Father Germain and L'Abbe Le Loutre" Monument erected by the Fort Lawrence / Beaubassin Heritage Association and dedicated to the last families of Beaubassin.
