Summary

Description

A monument to Thomas Selwyn 1546-1613, and his wife Elizabeth (Goring) of Friston Place. His parents were Thomas Selwyn and Marjorie Adam. The monument shows him and his wife kneeling at a prayer desk, beneath which are three chrisom swaddled babies, all boys. Below are his six daughters as weepers facing to the right (north). They are Mary, Elizabeth, Alice, Dorothy, Anne and Beatrix.

The monument was moved to its current position in the north transept in the mid 19th century, along with a monument to Sir Francis Selwyn and his son and heir William Thomas who was last of the family.
