English: Montagu Edmund Parker (1737-1831) of Whiteway House, Chudleigh, Devon, Sheriff of Devon in 1789, younger brother of John Parker, 1st Baron Boringdon (1735-1788) of Saltram House, Plympton, Devon, whose son was John Parker, 1st Earl of Morley (1772-1840). 1768 portrait by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792), who was born in Plympton and painted many pictures for his friends the Parker family of Saltram. Collection of National Trust, NT 872086, displayed at Saltram House. Provenance: Accepted by HM Treasury in part payment of death-duties from the executors of Edmund Robert Parker, 4th Earl of Morley (1877–1951) and transferred to the National Trust in 1957.
