English: Monmouth Castle Ruins The first castle was built in Monmouth by William Fitz Osburn in the late 11th century. It was probably a wooden building and it was replaced by stone buildings in the 13th century. We see hear the Great Tower to the right and the remains of the Great Hall to the left.
