Français : Les tuileries (étude). Victor Chocquet met en 1876 son appartement à la disposition de Claude Monet. Situé au cinquième étage d’un immeuble du 198, rue de Rivoli à Paris, il offre une vue plongeante sur le jardin des Tuileries qui inspire à Monet quatre peintures. La version du musée Marmottan Monet est la plus accomplie. Elle se distingue par l’équilibre de sa composition. La masse du pavillon de Marsan, à gauche, et la ligne d’horizon placée très haut délimitent le cadre dévolu à la description du parc à la française. Bassins, parterres, bosquets forment le cadre poétique que parachèvent le tracé régulier des allées piétonnes et l’ordonnancement ininterrompu des sculptures. La palette faite d’ocres blonds et de nuances de vert, de bleu et de rose rappelle celle d’En promenade près d’Argenteuil et plus généralement les oeuvres du milieu des années 1870.
