Summary

Description
English: European cruisers and other warships cruising in December 1905 before Mytilene, chief town of the island of Lesbos, then an Ottoman possession. The Europeans were exerting pressure on the Turks to force them to accept their plan for an international commission that would supervise the financial and fiscal affairs of the province of Macedonia. From left to right: the Szigetvár (Austro-Hungarian); Lancaster (British); Sankt Georg (Austro-Hungarian); Dard (French); Charlemagne (French); Garibaldi (Italian); Kubanets (Russian).
