English: The official last circulated traditional designed cash coins in China.
Min Guo Tong Bao (Circulating currency of the People's Republic) Issued by the provincial governments immediately after the fall of the Qing Dynasty in 1911. The Min Guo were issued and circulated in Yunnan province. Due to a lack of a strong central administration, many provinces had a degree of autonomy to mint their own currencies. The traditional design was first adopted only for Yunan and Fujian provinces but the lasted no more than a year before the modern full bodied coin designs were adopted nationally. These were the last coins to bear the iconic Chinese design which lasted 2000 years. |
