Exhibition history The Flemisch Raphael, Museum Leuven, 2013/14
Notes The press text of the Leuven exhibition calls this painting a "visual metaphor on the decline of the painter’s reputation" in his later years, after stating earlier that the decline in quality in Coxie's works occurred "In the last quarter of the sixteenth century and particularly after the Fall of Antwerp in 1585."
