English: '4-4-0 'B' Class 'Metropolitan [tank] engine in West Hampstead station', photographed on 10th March 1897 (S. W. A. Newton's notes). 'No. 58' was one of 32 similar locomotives built by Beyer Peacock & Co. between 1879 and 1885. Note the destination board on the rear of the bunker and the locomotive's condensing apparatus' fitted to help reduce steam emissions when working in the underground tunnels.'
