Description
English: Merchant mark of John Lane (d.1529) of Cullompton, Devon, stone sculpture on external wall of the Lane Aisle attached to St Andrew's Church, Cullompton. John Lane was a wealthy clothier who built the Lane Aisle attached to St Andrew's Church, Cullompton.It shows the the mystical "Sign of Four" which commonly features in English merchant's marks, and on the stem is shown a teasel frame used for carding wool.
