Title
Medieval harness pendant suspension mount
Description
English: A copper-alloy harness pendant suspension mount of Medieval date.
The central feature of this mount is a lozenge-shaped central cell with a quatrefoil setting, in which traces of dark blue enamel surround a moulded central pellet. A trilobate moulding projects outwards from the centre of each side of this lozenge. There are two rivet holes, one located within the apex loop, the other perforating the mount at the bottom point of the lozenge. The hanger projects from the base and comprises a pair of rounded lugs with a central gap, in which is contained part of the pendant's loop, held in place by an axis bar.
A very similar mount is PAS record BH-4BC287, which was found nearby and is clearly related. No published parallel could be found for these pieces, but their form suggests a 13th to 14th century date.
