Title
Medieval finger-ring
Description
English: A late medieval (c.1400-1500) gold finger-ring with a projecting flat, solid, oval bezel and a hoop D-shaped in cross-section (being flat to the inside surface).

The bezel is engraved with the figure of St Christopher walking left through water (denoted by wavy lines), holding a staff in his right hand, carrying Jesus as a child on his back, and holding Jesus' left ankle in his left hand. Jesus holds an orb in his left hand and raises his right hand in blessing. The area around these is cut away and retain traces of a dark material, perhaps enamel inlay. The depiction is longitudinally arranged. To the underside of the bezel is a small nick, apparently relatively recent damage, and some fine scratches.
The hoop is undecorated and widens from 3.2x1.2mm at the centrepoint to 3.7x1.7mm at the shoulder.

The object measures 19.1x18.1mm externally (internal 16.8x15.7mm) and weighs 3.50g. The bezel measures 12.1mm long, 7.2mm wide and 1.3mm thick.
