Description Reverse of the Medal of Honor issued to Seaman Joachim Pease, United States Navy, for actions in the American Civil War. Inscribed lettering on reverse reads, “Personal Valor / JOACHIM PEASE / (Colored) Seaman / U.S.S. Kearsarge / Destruction on the Alabama / June 9, 1864.”
