English: Max Clifton Brewer (1924–2012) was a Canadian-born American biologist, physicist and government official. Brewer was best known as the longtime director of the Naval Arctic Research Laboratory in Barrow, Alaska and was concurrently a professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. At the time of this photo, Brewer was serving in the gubernatorial cabinet of William A. Egan as commissioner of the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation.
