Description
English: Model from the Victoria and Albert Museum of an early 19th century oscillating marine steam engine designed by Joseph Maudslay. In this type of engine, the piston rods are directly connected to the crankshaft, and the engine cylinders are secured by trunnions in the centre, allowing the cylinders to pivot back and forth with the rotation of the crankshaft.
