DescriptionMassoud Circle Beautification and Drainage Project 140803-A-MV865-241.jpg |
English: At Kabul's Massoud Circle, Mayor Muhammad Nawandish performed a ribbon cutting ceremony for the ongoing construction of a small park and a drainage system that will help alleviate flooding in the area by redirecting the water to the Kabul River. The Massoud Circle Beautification and Drainage Project is one of four U.S. Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A) Commander's Emergency Response Fund projects underway in the Kabul Province. Afghan National Police (ANP) from police District 10 effectively directed heavy traffic around the busy intersection as media stood at the edge of construction workers smoothing wet concrete.
“We had a problem with the drainage during the rain, we had flooding on the roads,” said Nawandish after a meeting on current projects in and around Kabul. “I want to thank the U.S.-FOR-A-leadership, they have supported a lot of projects in Kabul city.” (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Capt. Mike Thompson/Released)
