The watercolor portrait is an original work based on a preliminary sketch by artist Charles Berkeley Normann for his painting The Reading of the Texas Declaration of Independence (1936). This portrait was commissioned by Kameron K. Searle. A copy of this painting is on display in the Star of the Republic Museum in Washington, Texas.
