English: Marshall Stone (1903-1989) sent a letter of resignation to the organization of the 1950 International Congress of Mathematicians. In the letter you can read: "You know how ashamed and angry this makes me. Since a year ago I have believed that the Congress should not be held in the U.S. on account of the attitude of the government towards liberal and radical panelists from other countries. Unfortunately I have had no inference on the Congress and have been fired to watch one disgraceful evolint after another. With friendliest greeting, Marshall Stone"
