Description
English: Buildings in Mark Twain Historic District . The district, which has been on the NRHP since January 4, 1978, is on Bird, Main, and Hill Sts., Hannibal, Missouri, near Samuel Clemens's boyhood home. These particular buildings are on the SE corner of Hill and Main (the "boyhood home" is slightly up Hill Street from the NW corner). From the NRHP plaques on these buildings and from other informational material posted on them, the most important of these buildings is the one on the corner (left). though it has been expanded to 3 floors and renovated, on the 2nd floor Clemens learned to set type there.
