WHEN she first appeared on the stage, Marie Dressler was far more interested in singing than in comedy. But before she had been on the boards long, particularly after she appeared as Katisha in "The Mikado," she had gained a reputation for both. Now in her late Fifties, Miss Dressier does not live on memories, but is constantly gaining new laurels for herself in the talkies, notably in "Anna Christie." Born in Cobourg, Canada, November 9, 1871, she is 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and has brown hair and blue-grey eyes.
