English: Mariamman (Rain Goddess) is worshiped in our village for good rain, better agricultural harvest and our peoples safety (as most of them are from Army background). She is called as AMMAN. To mark our respect for her, we take her on our shoulders like a procession with full decoration done only by the villagers. We make Pongal and offer her. The money given to her is given out for charity. People put forth their wishes before her. Once it gets fulfilled, they will perform the rituals before her. This event will happen for two days every year, when people who have gone to different countries, and other states will come together to celebrate the event with grand pomp. This annual event helps us to stick to our roots even though we have gone far from our village in search of jobs.
