Description
The map of the Captaincy of Ilheos drawn by João Teixeira Albernaz appeared in 1640 in the work PORTUGALIAE MONUMENTA CARTOGRAFICA, vol. IV; the map is accompanied by the Description of all the maritime of the Land of the Holy Cross commonly known as Brazil, published in 2000 as a facsimile by Grafispaço - Centro Editorial Gráfico.

Object history This document belonged to Casa Palmela, which sold it to the State in July 1954. It was deposited in the Historical Archive of the Ministry of Finance, and on 22 January 1962, it entered the National Archive of Torre do Tombo, by Ministerial Order of 28 December 1961.
