Description
English: This image divides 18th century western Europe according to regional harpsichord building traditions:
  • Green: Flemish
  • Yellow: French
  • Light blue: Italian
  • Red: German
  • Dark blue: English
  • Orange: Iberian

Cities that were hubs of harpsichord building are represented for each region (named from top to bottom. Note that building in the german and italian states was very decentralized):

  • Sweden (red): Stockholm
  • Britain (dark blue): London
  • Flanders (green): Antwerpen
  • France (yellow): Paris, Lyon
  • Iberian peninsula (Orange): Madrid, Lisabon
  • German states (red): Hamburg, Berlin, Hanover, Dresden, Vienna
  • Italian states (light blue): Venice, Florence, Rome, Naples
