Description

Map of Hamburg Free Port at the time of the accession of the state of Hamburg to the German Customs Union or Zollverein. The free port area (shown coloured light orange) remained outside the Customs Union and covered most of the central port area. Goods could be imported by sea directly into the zone without crossing the German Customs border.
