Original field notes:Masked Boobies are large, with heavy serrated bills, and able to ward off marauding feral cats and Polynesian rats, although it takes much energy to do this. Masked Boobies are thus able to survive here, whereas many other seabirds are not, especially the smaller, ground-nesters. |
